Energy Saving Tips

1. Install a programmable thermostat to control heating levels when you are not at home. 2. Replace your furnace filter frequently. 3. Have a professional clean and service your heating unit. 4. Adjust register openings to keep rooms within your home at temperatures needed for each individual room. 5. Adjust upstairs registers to lower levels since heat rises. 6. Use draperies, blinds, curtains, or shutters on all windows to slow loss of heat through glass. Open these on sunny days to allow rooms to heat naturally. 7. Place furniture near inside walls and do not block heating registers with furniture. 8. Use kitchen, bath, and other ventilating fans sparingly in cold weather. 9. Use ceiling fans to push warm air down to the living area. 10. Seal mountings and/or insulate around ceiling fans, windows, doors, water heaters, electrical switches, and outlet plates.
