Application for Employment
The City of Clifton is not accepting applications at this time. However, we will keep your application on file for future consideration. The City reserves the right to reject all applications.

Business License
We welcome any new business interested in coming to our community. Tennessee state law requires all businesses located within the city limits that gross more than $3,000 annually in income to obtain a business license from the city and the county. The city Business License application is linked below. Please download the PDF version of the Business Permit application, fill it out, and bring it to the City Hall of Clifton.

Beer Permits
A non-refundable application fee is required for a beer permit. The City Commission is the Beer Board, and Beer Permit Applications are considered during regularly scheduled city council meetings. The city Beer Permit Application and Background Check Authorization Form are linked below.
Burn Permits for Residents Outside City Limits
The City of Clifton does not issue burn permits for anyone outside the Clifton City Limits. These burn permits are issued by the State of Tennessee Agriculture Department.
Liquor-by-the-Drink License
Liquor-by-the-drink Licenses are issued by the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC). The City of Clifton must receive a copy of the state liquor license application, and an annual fee paid to the City will be determined based on seating capacity. Permanent Sign Permit
The City of Clifton requires a permit application before a permanent sign can be erected within the city limits.
Utility Permits
The City of Clifton provides water and wastewater utility services to residents within the city limits and water to customers outside the city limits in certain locations. Forms relating to these utilities' activation, relocation, and disconnection are available below.
